Caleb's reaction . . .
to Elena can be sweet or sometimes it seems like he's saying, "What?"

Is he philosophizing?

Just taking a drive out in the weeds.

Let me see your cheezy smile.

Elena Rachel Delap

Little Lenichka.

Here are some pictures of our daughter Lena. I still can't believe the Lord sent her to us. She is a lovely baby and adds a sweetness to the feeling in our home. It is amazing how different each child can be. Sometimes, Caleb will be running through the house and he'll stop to put his face down near Lena's feet. He will laugh gleefully when she moves, especially if she kicks him. I'll then ask him to do something and he will turn and say, "no" and then go back to his running. All the while, she is just looking around calmly as if to say, "I am content and I'm going to stay that way." I added the last picture of her in the middle of a cry for Joseph. It reminds me of some of his classic baby faces . . . and even later-in-life faces. :)

She was born January 19th, 2009 in Tucson, Arizona. She was 7.2 lbs. and very tired. She opens her eyes a lot more now.

Merry Christmas

from
The Delap Family

We just wanted to say ‘hi’ from the Border down here in Rio Rico, Arizona. Dean is still in the Border Patrol and is currently applying to Graduate Schools for next Fall. Rachel is happy and bulging with less than a month left for the next baby. They say it’ll be a girl, but they’ve said that before, so we’ll see in January. Caleb is 18 months and can do everything himself. Arizona temperatures are not too bad, and we’re not planning on a white Christmas this year.

We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas time with families and lots of giving. We are thankful to have the gospel of Jesus Christ that reminds us of why we celebrate this time of year, and we are so grateful for the greatest love shown by our Savior in giving His life for each of us.

Thanks so much to all of you for your friendship and influence in our lives.

Love,
Dean, Rachel, and Caleb

Caleb is a little man now.

While visiting in Provo for Becky's graduation, we spent a wonderful few days at the Horlacher's home. This was taken Sunday afternoon when we were all out sitting on blankets on the lawn, while listening to Seth play his accordian. Caleb obviously enjoyed it as well.

More of the same

Last Sunday, Caleb sported a new Hawaiian shirt. Dean came to visit for the occasion, (actually, I think he came to see me, but the new shirt was a definite bonus). The next picture shows Caleb with one of my Christmas presents on his head (a blue bandana from Dean) while studying the keyboard on his lap. He's really good at observing things before he starts performing, so I'm expecting him to play a song in no time. Below we have a picture of Caleb in his Christmas PJs and one with him all bundled up after a walk in the cold, Snowflake air.

Christmas fun

Caleb is leading music in front of the Christmas tree. He already likes to direct the fun.

Caleb and his cousin Elisabeth (Daryl and Alison's 11-month old) enjoyed a visit with Santa Clause at the Taylor Fire Station.

Caleb doesn't have a mouth disease

Dad thought the rice cereal all over Caleb's face was something else,
so I'm adding pictures to show what he actually looks like now.
